Boards & Commissions Overview

The City Secretary's Office receives applications from citizens interested in contributing to their community by volunteering to serve on a board or commission. The various boards and commissions act as an advisory board to the Council and in some instances they are the final body for action.

Appointments to boards and commissions are made annually in June and July and the terms coincide with the Council member who made the appointment. Places 1, 3, 5, 7 expire in odd number years and Places 2, 4, 6 and Mayor appointments expire in even numbered years unless otherwise noted by ordinance.

Applications are available from the City Secretary and are kept on file for one year from the date of receipt. Completed applications can be dropped off at the City Secretary’s office, faxed to 817-427-6016 or emailed to the City Secretary’s office.  The applications are forwarded to City Council members whose appointments are to expire in June or as vacancies occur during the year.
