Recyclable materials can be placed loose in your recycling cart and do not need to be sorted by material type. The materials will be sorted at a recycling plant. Acceptable items include plastic jugs, bottles and tubs; plastic bags; glass jars and bottles; paper, newspaper, magazines and cardboard; wax coated paper containers and juice boxes; metal cans and scrap metal; aluminum cans and foil; and aerosol cans.
Recycle Cart FAQs
If recycling large pieces of cardboard, it can get stuck in the cart and cause it not to empty completely. Rather than wedging large pieces into the cart, cut them down so they fit inside loosely.
Holiday Recycling Tips:
Most wrapping paper is recyclable and can be placed in your curbside recycling cart as long as it doesn’t have ribbons, bows or other decorations attached. Wrapping paper that includes foil or glitter cannot be recycled. Tissue paper cannot be recycled.
Greeting cards and envelopes are also recyclable, as long as they are not musical and do not contain foil or glitter or have other decorations attached.
Christmas lights and decorations that are broken or no longer wanted should be placed in the regular garbage, along with artificial Christmas trees and wreaths which are not recyclable.
