David Whitson - Council Place 5

David Whitson was elected to the City Council in May 2001 and re-elected in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Prior to serving on Council, he served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and Cable Television Board from 1994 until 2001.

He was born in Kilgore, Texas, and has lived in Haltom City and North Richland Hills since 1951. David is a veteran of the United States Army serving most of his tour in Wurzburg, Germany.

He is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. David and his wife are active members in North Richland Hills Baptist Church. He continues to serve as a volunteer (over twenty years) for Birdville ISD High School Football.

David currently serves on the Board of Directors of the North Richland Hills Crime Control and Prevention District, North Richland Hills Park and Recreation Facilities Development Corporation, and the City's Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones No. 1 and No. 2. He serves on the Boulevard 26 Corridor Oversight Committee and the City's Capital Improvement Projects Committee.

David is on the U.S. Government Pricing and Compliance Management Team with Bell Helicopter.
